According to Big Horn County Sheriff Ken Blackburn, law enforcement received a 911 call at approximately 1:30 p.m. reporting gunfire at a residence on the south side of Byron. Officers from the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and Lovell Police Department responded immediately.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered multiple gunshot victims, both deceased and injured. In total, five individuals were shot, and two survivors were rushed to North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell for emergency medical care. Law enforcement agents at the scene administered life-saving efforts before the victims were transported.

Ongoing Investigation and Community Response

The suspect, identified as Tranyelle Harshman, is believed to have fatally shot four of her children following a domestic dispute. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has been called in to assist with processing the crime scene, which remains under active investigation.

Sheriff Blackburn urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation, addressing false rumors that law enforcement officers had discharged their weapons during the response. “At this time, there is no active threat to the citizens of Big Horn County,” he reassured.

Authorities extended their gratitude to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Lovell Police Department, North Big Horn Hospital and Ambulance, Powell Valley Hospital Ambulance, and DCI for their swift and coordinated response.
